MediSYS clients experience an almost seamless transition to Version 5010

March 19th, 2012

Date: March 19th, 2012

The 5010 transition has come and gone for MediSYS clients without the mass 5010 issues reported by others.  With the exception of Tricare (who had a delay in rolling-out 5010), MediSYS providers were able transition to 5010 by January 1, 2012.  Although some practices experienced delays due to credentialing issues (i.e. group NPI not registered, etc.) and a few missed Medicare re-validation deadlines, the overwhelming majority of MediSYS clients did not see substantial payment delays. While other vendors reported problems with the 5010 transition, MediSYS clients experienced a seamless transition.

“We had a practice call us with “a 911 emergency” due to 5010 issues with another practice management vendor. We were able to transition them to the MediSYS product and get their money coming in within less than 24 hours.  Needless to say, the client was very thankful, and very happy to be with MediSYS!” explains Jennifer Woodward, Director of Operations.

Accordingly, CMS has announced that it will extend the enforcement discretion period 3 months, through June 30, 2012, to comply with the Version 5010 and NCPDP Versions D.0 and 3.0. This is an extra  90 day enforcement discretionary period from the original extension of the enforcement date of March 31st, 2012 issued by CMS.
